Abstract

After hypertensive left thalamic hemorrhage, complete resolution of resting tremor was noted in a patient with Parkinson’s disease who had severe tremor which was apparent on the right hand and resistant to treatment. His neurological examination revealed right hemihypoesthesia, hemiparesthesia, frust hemiparesis together with acalculia. Although there have been cases reported previously whose resting tremor improved after isolated small thalamic lacunar infarctions, it is interesting that in our patient, after the thalamic hematoma, tremor resolved and the patient had only minor neurological deficits. The patient is also thought-provoking by showing the diversity of clinical presentations of thalamic lesions.
