Abstract

Hemichorea and hemiballismus is a rare neurological condition which is accompanied by movement disorders following acute stroke. It is characterized by sudden, severe and uncontrolled wide-amplitude proximal motions involving the unilateral side of the body. It is mostly attributed to the small vascular lesions in contralateral basal ganglia and thalamus. In this report, we present a 61-year-old woman with hemiballismus following a right thalamic hemorrhage.
