Abstract
The diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease is mainly based on classical motor symptoms and certain diagnostic criteria. However, some motor and non-motor prodromal symptoms, such as autonomic dysfunction, depression, anxiety, some cognitive disorders, olfactory dysfunction, REM (rapid eye movement) sleep behavior disorder, constipation and daytime sleepiness, may also play a role in the diagnosis of the disease. These can occur long before the typical motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease begin and before the disease is diagnosed.
