Abstract

Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is defined as a decrease of at least 20 mmHg in systolic blood pressure or 10 mmHg in diastolic blood pressure within 3 min after orthostasis or when the head is raised to 60˚ in the tilt table test. Orthostatic hypotension has neurogenic and non-neurogenic causes. The incidence of OH increases with increasing elderly population and neurodegenerative diseases. For these reasons, we aimed to present the new developments related to OH in Parkinson disease, the second most common neurodegenerative disease, and parkinsonism.
