Abstract

The tremor, caused by the oscillation and synchronized contractions of the antagonist muscles, is a common movement disorder in neurology. Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, Holmes tremor, tremor associated with multiple sclerosis, orthostatic tremor and cerebellar tremor are diseases that are associated with tremor. The preferred treatment for tremor is medical treatment. However, in selected patients who do not adequately respond to medical treatment, deep brain stimulation applied to appropriate localization is an effective treatment option for tremor. This article summarizes the place and efficiency of deep brain stimulation in tremor therapy for diseases that are associated with tremor.
